Library Science Talk – The Role of a Research Library Supporting Research Data Management
Thursday, 18. September 2025
09:30 - 10:30 o'clock
For many years the management of research data was a duty mainly performed within research groups. However, in the last decade, this task has become relevant when funders have identified it as a key element to make research outputs more reusable and therefore to show the potential of increasing the value of their investment in research. Since then, one of the main goals of funders is to make research data as optimal to reuse as possible taking into account some of the possible restrictions that may arise for privacy, confidentiality or security, among other aspects. Sharing research data for reuse might be not an easy task and, in many cases, libraries have provided their resources and expertise to play a relevant role in trying to achieve funders’ goals. In this session we will introduce the work developed at the library of the University of Barcelona to support researchers in managing their research data.
