How to get funding from the SNSF for Open Access publications

This Lunch & Learn series offers members of the UZH insights into various aspects of Open Science. The event begins with a half-hour input presentation and concludes with an open Q&A session.
This talk briefly outlines the procedures, gains and potential challenges regarding publishing books open access by means of third-party funding:
Specifically, the SNSF offers opportunities to finance Gold Open Access for book publications (monographs but also edited volumes or anthologies), even if they did not directly result from SNSF-funded projects, covering the costs of publisher services for quality control, book production and distribution.
I report on a successful application for getting OA costs funded for an edited volume in linguistics which was published in 2023, focussing in particular on the benefits of using this option, but also pointing out any difficulties, uncertainties, or obstacles in the process.
