Discover Orbis: Exploring Global Company Information for Economic Research

Orbis is a comprehensive business database that provides access to over 100 million company records worldwide. The database includes financial data, ratings, stock market information, details on corporate governance and ownership structures, and more, and offers powerful tools for analyzing individual companies, industries, or corporate groups. The platform provider is offering a customer workshop in English.

The purpose of this training session is to introduce the Orbis platform for the students from University of Zürich who need to run research using companies and financial data.

Data focus: financial data, activity sectors, location, ownership data (shareholders and ultimate parent companies)

• data coverage overview
• navigation into the platform
• performing accurate searches:
  • Defining very specific search scopes using complex search strategies and various variables
  • Specific research projects examples
• key functionalities like filters, boolean operators, data exports, customized reports and list views
• overview of integrated analytical tools
