The annual building inspection will take place from Saturday, August 21, 2021 up to Sunday, August 29, 2021: 

• The reading rooms and special collections remain closed. 
• Lending and courier services are available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 
• The ZB is completely closed on Saturdays and Sundays. 
• The return takes place via the 24-hour machine on Chorgasse.

Purpose of the building inspection

The building inspection is a measure to preserve and restore the original or current condition of the building and infrastructure as well as to determine and assess the current condition of the building. This includes maintenance, inspection, repairs and improvements. Our maintenance goal must not only be coordinated with the economic circumstances but also with the operational aspects of the ZB. Therefore, many of the maintenance and repair works cannot be carried out while the ZB is fully operating but only concentrated during one week after the summer vacation period.
